Waive Medical Coverage
You may waive your medical coverage if you have other coverage (for example, through your spouse's employer). If you waive medical coverage, you also waive prescription drug and vision coverage. If you waive coverage, you will also not be eligible for the $600 non-tobacco user credit.
If you are a full-time employee and waive medical coverage, you will receive a taxable $600* annual medical waiver payment, which will be divided equally among your 26 paychecks. This payment is considered income and is subject to tax withholding in the same manner as your regular pay. However, it is excluded from all benefit calculations.
If your spouse or same-sex domestic partner is also a Verizon Wireless employee and is covered as your dependent, he or she is not eligible to receive waiver payments. Part-time employees are also not eligible for waiver payments.
If you waive medical coverage during your enrollment period, you may not elect coverage until the following Annual Employee Benefits Enrollment period in the fall, unless you experience a relevant qualified
status change during the plan year.
